Frequently Asked Questions About Our Houston Podiatry Practice
Where are your Houston podiatry offices located?
Foot Specialists of Memorial has two Houston offices. Our Gessner office is at 915 Gessner Road Suite 460, Houston, TX 77024, near Memorial City, and our Greenhouse office is at 2051 Greenhouse Rd Suite 150, Houston, TX 77084, convenient to Katy and Cypress.
What are your office phone numbers?
You can reach our Gessner office at (713) 464-3775 and our Greenhouse office at (281) 371-3338. Call the location most convenient for you to schedule or ask questions.
How do I schedule an appointment with a podiatrist?
You can request an appointment online through our website or call either office directly. Our team will find a time that works for your schedule and help you choose the location closest to home or work.
Do I need a referral to see a foot doctor?
Most patients do not need a referral to see our podiatrists. Some insurance plans, particularly certain HMO plans, require one, so we recommend checking with your insurance carrier before your visit.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We work with a wide range of insurance plans. Because coverage varies from plan to plan, please call our office before your appointment so our staff can verify your benefits and explain any expected costs.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring a photo ID, your insurance card, a list of current medications, any relevant imaging or medical records, and your completed new patient form. Bringing a pair of shoes you wear often helps us evaluate wear patterns.
Can I complete my paperwork before my visit?
Yes. You can download and print our new patient form from the Online Forms page, fill it out at home, and bring it with you. This shortens check-in and gives you more time with your podiatrist.
What conditions do your podiatrists treat?
We treat bunions, heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, Morton’s neuroma, ingrown toenails, plantar warts, hammertoes, Achilles tendonitis, toenail fungus, flat feet, ankle sprains, sports injuries, and many other foot and ankle problems.
What treatments and services do you offer?
Our services include comprehensive foot and ankle exams, custom orthotics, EPAT shock wave therapy, in-office procedures for nail and skin conditions, and foot and ankle surgery, including Lapiplasty 3D bunion correction.
Are your podiatrists trained in foot and ankle surgery?
Yes. Our physicians are residency trained in foot surgery as well as reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. We always start with the most conservative effective treatment and recommend surgery only when it is truly needed.
Do you offer non-surgical treatment options?
Yes. Most foot and ankle conditions respond well to conservative care such as custom orthotics, EPAT therapy, footwear changes, stretching programs, padding, and medication. Surgery is reserved for problems that do not improve with these options.
What is Lapiplasty and do you perform it?
Lapiplasty is a 3D bunion correction procedure that realigns the entire metatarsal bone and stabilizes the unstable joint that causes the bunion. Our surgeons perform Lapiplasty for patients with moderate to severe or recurring bunions.
What is EPAT shock wave therapy?
EPAT, or extracorporeal pulse activation technology, uses acoustic pressure waves to stimulate blood flow and healing in damaged tissue. It is a non-invasive option for chronic heel pain, plantar fasciitis, and Achilles tendon problems.
Do you treat children and seniors?
Yes. We care for patients of all ages, from children with flat feet, warts, or ingrown toenails to older adults managing arthritis, balance concerns, and age-related foot changes.
Do you provide diabetic foot care?
Yes. People with diabetes are at higher risk for foot ulcers, infections, and nerve damage. Our podiatrists provide routine foot exams, nail and callus care, and early treatment to help protect your feet.
When should I see a podiatrist instead of waiting it out?
See a podiatrist if foot or ankle pain lasts more than a few days, you notice swelling, redness, numbness, or a wound that is not healing, or you have trouble walking or bearing weight.
How can I prevent common foot problems?
Wear supportive shoes that fit well, replace worn athletic shoes, trim toenails straight across, keep your feet clean and dry, stretch your calves, and have new or worsening pain evaluated early.
